The twittosphere was agitated on this evening of August 9th. Klobrille’s account indicates that it has spotted new elements, coming directly from the Xbox site, and leading to believe that new games, not from the Xbox Game Pass catalog, would be playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Example illustrated with Elden Ring.

The cloud more than ever at the heart of Microsoft’s strategy

On June 9, following an interview with members in charge of the development of Xbox Cloud Gaming, the indiscreet Klobrille had revealed this:

Later this year, Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play, from the cloud, *select games* they already own outside of the Xbox Game Pass library. The exact library of these selected games is not known at this time. The reason is that a publisher must allow game streaming.

If the information is nothing new from a technological point of view, Fortnite having been the first game outside Game Pass integrated into the catalog of titles playable via the cloud, the fact of offering paid games to this way of playing l ‘is. As evidenced by our screenshot, it seems that the famous Elden Ring is ready to be played from any device! On the link redirecting to the game appears the mention Game Pass.

It is currently not possible to launch the game from a browser. However, the game page invites us to launch it as a member of the Ultimate program. Visible in the comments under Klobrille’s tweet, another screenshot seems to indicate that Cyberpunk 2077 is about to receive the same preferential treatment. Microsoft could therefore be very close to expanding its catalog of games available via Xbox Cloud Gaming, provided that it is the owner this time. So do not expect to see these titles integrate the Xbox Game Pass in the coming days. Case to follow!
