China’s one-person households exceed 125 million CCTV: living alone brings fire its economy after 100 million pet owners
When it comes to the concept of “living alone”, what is your impression?
According to CCTV, in fact, referring to the 2021 China Statistical Yearbook data,In 2020, the number of “one-person households” in the country exceeded 125 million, accounting for more than 25%.
The report specifically pointed out that the increase in the number of people living alone has given birth to the companion economy or “it economy”, especially the growing number of pet owners.
Relevant data show that by the end of 2021, among all pets, the number of people who keep cats and dogs in my country is still the largest, both exceeding 50%, and cats have surpassed dogs. Next are aquarium pets, reptile pets, rodent pets and bird pets, but the proportions do not exceed 10%.
In 2021, the number of people raising dogs and cats in my country will reach 68.44 million, of which nearly half are “post-90s” pet owners.
A young woman who was interviewed said that thanks to the cat she raised, she had spent that low period in her life, otherwise she might have fallen into emo (depression) and couldn’t extricate herself. There is also an elderly couple from Tianjin. They not only have dogs, but also two turtles and a goat. They said, “Now we can’t live without it, and they can’t live without me.”
Some analysts said that one-person households have gradually become the main force for keeping pets, and pets have also risen from the role of companions in the past to “close family members”.
