There is no shortage of mobile payment services, from Apple and Google of course, but also from many other providers. Rakuten intends to make a name for itself in France.
Rakuten will take advantage of the Japan Expo, which will be held from July 14 to 17 in Paris, to launch its Rakuten Pay mobile payment solution in France. The choice of this launch owes nothing to chance: not only is the company ” strategic partner of the event, but above all Japan Expo is the unmissable event for all those interested in Japanese culture, “ largest in the world outside of Japan “says Rakuten.
Japan Expo Live Launch
Rakuten Pay is a payment service used by more than 5 million merchants in Japan. It allows users to make payments through a mobile application, by registering a card or a bank account. At checkout, simply scan the QR code at checkout. No credit card information is shared during the process.
It’s less immediate than Apple Pay, but Rakuten adds a feature that could appeal to its most loyal customers. Indeed, Rakuten Pay allows you to accumulate points with each transaction. These Rakuten Points can then be redeemed at partner stores, as well as at Rakuten of course.
During Japan Expo, visitors will be offered 500 welcome points upon downloading the application. This corresponds to a gift of 5 euros, which can be used immediately on the stands of vendors and partners at the show.
And just to make the buzz, Rakuten has teamed up with several streamers, including Berluu, Kaevane, Areliaan and Lepandaman, to promote this payment solution on Twitch. They will carry out a purchase operation live during Japan Expo, which may give ideas to their subscribers.
