Spotify relies heavily on podcasts to differentiate its offer from everything from music streaming. For the podcast-loving subscriber, that’s fine, but for those who only want to listen to music, having a homepage that happily mixes genres can get annoying quickly. This is why the platform deploy currently updating its application with two tabs that will appear at the top of the home page.
These two buttons will allow access either to a music-only stream (songs, albums, playlists), or to a stream composed only of podcasts. Each of these streams is fed with content suggestions. In the music stream, it will be possible to quickly start playing content, like, to share it. The podcast feed will feature the show visual, episode summary, and of course, the play button and save for later.
And tomorrow, we can very well consider a third tab dedicated to audio books, for example? Spotify has been interested in the sector for a while… This novelty is currently being launched on Android, the iOS version is coming soon.
