European javelin champion Christin Hussong is the latest German medal hope to miss the upcoming world athletics championships. The national federation DLV said on Sunday that lack of form after an illness made the 28-year-old Hussong decide not to compete at the worlds which open on Friday in Eugene. Men’s javelin thrower Johannes Vetter, Olympic race walk silver medallist Jonathan Hilbert and heptathlete Carolin Schäfer are other German contenders who won’t be at the season highlight. The now 80-strong German team is led by world and Olympic long jump champion Malaika Mihambo.
