Foldable Smartphones, watches… and headphones. With the Galaxy Buds2 ProSamsung today renewed a large part of its range of mobile products. This 2022 generation of wireless headphones brings forward a handful of new features for sound.
The main one is support for 24-bit Hi-Fi audio in Bluetooth (version 5.3) via an in-house codec, the Samsung Seamlesss Codec (SSC) Hi-Fi. The condition to benefit from it is to use a compatible Samsung smartphone with One UI version 4.0 at minimum, and a music service capable of delivering such content (pretty much all do now, with the very notable exception of Spotify).
What’s the point of having a more detailed sound if you’re in the middle of a hectic sound environment? Active noise cancellation has been improved to filter out 40% more noise, Samsung promises. As soon as the user begins to speak, this active reduction is indented to switch the headphones into the equivalent of a transparency mode. We also find listening with 360° audio effects as we already enjoy with the AirPods.
The two headphones are 15% smaller than the previous ones and the autonomy runs within the usual values: 5 hours with noise reduction, 8 hours without. These durations rise to 18 and 29 hours respectively with successive refills of the case. Finally, these headphones are IPX7 certified (1 meter in fresh water, for a maximum of 30 minutes).
These Buds2 are available in anthracite, white and lavender colors and are on sale at 229 €.
