The Union of Consumers will send an initiative to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, according to which all gadgets sold in Russia must be equipped with a single charging connector.

They advocate USB-C as a single connector, and they want to establish a ban from 2025. They also want to supplement the sale rules with a clause that will allow you to choose a device with or without charging.

One of the arguments in favor of a single standard is a bill passed in the EU that obliges manufacturers to use USB-C as a single standard from the fall of 2024.

Experts believe that in the context of the departure of brands from Russia and the import of goods through parallel imports, this measure is excessive and restrictive. Considering that a similar bill will be in Europe, smartphones with a USB-C connector will still get to Russia.
