Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, gave an interview to the JDD and revealed some figures concerning the platform in France.

The latest official figures shared by the SVOD platform for France dated back to 2020, which gives us the opportunity to judge Netflix’s progress.

According to Ted Sarandos, there would now be more than 10 million French households subscribing to its services. In 2020, the platform announced 6.7 million subscribers, an increase of 49.2% over two years.

Regarding the number of users, considering that a subscription corresponds to 5 accounts, and applying a correction, it is estimated that there are currently 21 million Netflix users in France currently.

We already knew that Netflix had a significant presence in France, in particular by the latest report from ARCEP which points to the platform as the one that occupies the most bandwidth on the Internet in France.

Worldwide, Netflix now claims 222 million subscribers, but its growth is slowing: the platform is no longer benefiting from the enthusiasm for massive launches in new markets. From now on, the platform must bet on original content to seduce, but also on the launch of more accessible offers, even free and financed by advertising.
