Last year Xiaomi released one of the best smartphones in the mainstream segment in terms of price-quality ratio – Xiaomi 11 Lite. First, the regular version 11 Lite and 11 Lite 5G saw the light. And in the fall, the Chinese company released a new version called Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G. It was on the third attempt that we got the best version of this smartphone in terms of characteristics and helped increase sales. This year Xiaomi releases a sequel to his hit with a new design.

Comparison of Xiaomi 12 Lite and Xiaomi 11 Lite

The design of Xiaomi 12 Lite is very close to the flagship Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro.

All three versions Xiaomi 11 Lite last year became really hits. Large selection of colors, excellent design and optimal performance. For many, the camera was important when choosing, for someone it was the appearance, but someone was just looking for the best ratio of performance and cost. All these factors allowed the devices to sell very well and find some popularity. But still, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE version became the best in terms of characteristics and price. It was installed Snapdragon 778G instead of Snapdragon 732G in regular 11 Lite and Snapdragon 780G in version 11 Lite 5G. All other data has not changed. Yes, the processor has become a little slower than in 5G option, but for users this difference will be imperceptible.

And so Xiaomi launches the next generation of his hit – Xiaomi 12 Lite. The new device received the same processor and graphics accelerator as in version 11 Lite 5G NE. That is, we can say that both models will be very similar in terms of performance.

Unfortunately, the macro camera received a module of only 2 megapixels. Therefore, most likely, you will not be able to get the same good macro shots as on the 11 Lite 5G NE. But there are changes for the better. Xiaomi 12 Lite received a new main camera of 108 megapixels. The detail of the pictures will become better, but due to the reduced aperture from 1.79 to 1.88 (less is better), it will become more difficult to take a good picture in the dark and twilight. Front-camera received a new 32 megapixel lens versus 20 in 11 Lite.

The screen size and resolution remain the same, but the maximum refresh rate has increased to 120Hz. Recall that in all 11 Lite models, the display supported a maximum of 90 Hz. Thanks to this, all actions on the smartphone will become even smoother. But even here there were some savings. Screen covered Gorilla Glass 5while in the past generation was used Gorilla Glass 6. However, the new generation received a fingerprint scanner in the screen, and not in the lock button. Perhaps this change is due to this.

Xiaomi 12 Lite received a square case in the style of the iPhone 13. Because of this, it became a little thicker – 7.29 mm versus 6.81 mm in the previous generation and heavier – 173 grams versus 158. On the positive side, support for charging at 67 W should be noted. That will allow you to charge the battery at 4300 mAh in 30-40 minutes. If the manufacturer has not made some additional software optimization, then with the new screen refresh rate, you can predict a faster discharge than in the previous generation. Consequently, fast charging will be a salvation for owners of new devices.

Xiaomi 12 Lite – price

The design of Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is in no way inferior to the novelty, and maybe even more interesting.

Looking at Xiaomi 12 Lite, we can say that this is a fairly good smartphone. Exactly until the moment when you start to compare it with its predecessors and delve into its characteristics. Here, they seem to have increased the resolution of the main camera, but reduced the aperture ratio. They cut the resolution of the macro camera, but raised the display hertz. Gorilla Glass 6 replaced by 5, but added support for more fast charging. They made the smartphone thicker and heavier, but gave a new case design. It seems that for every minus there is a plus, but one gets the feeling that the smartphone has ceased to be balanced.

He did not seem to get much worse, but he did not receive sufficient improvements either. And we still expect real progress and innovations from new generations. In this situation, it is directly felt how the manufacturer tried with all his might to prevent a strong rise in the price of one of his most popular devices. All this is done to keep sales at least at the same level. I won’t be surprised if a version is presented towards the end of the year Xiaomi 12 Lite NE. The new smartphone will certainly receive a more powerful processor and improved cameras. This will be a standard work on the bugs in the performance of Xiaomi, which we have already seen in the past year.

Well, if you are faced with the question of purchasing Xiaomi 12 Lite or 11Lite 5G NE, you should soberly evaluate the characteristics of both devices. Since 12 Lite is newer, it will take longer to update. It has better front and back cameras, a new design, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a higher screen refresh rate and faster charging. At the same time, 11 Lite 5G NE has a more ergonomic body, lighter weight and thickness, better macro camera, longer battery life.

At the same time, it cannot be said that the camera in the new generation is better than the old one. Most likely, with the naked eye, the difference in the pictures will not even be visible. And the speed of the fingerprint sensors in the screen still causes heated discussions. All these improvements are not worth the overpayment of 11 thousand rubles. Xiaomi 12 Lite a good device, but not for 41 thousand rubles. Having kept the price at the same level, one could safely advise him to buy, but this did not happen. In the same time Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G can be purchased for 29990 for the 8/128 GB version. This is one of the most balanced smartphones on the market that will delight you for another year.
