Today, July 12, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow fined Apple 2 million rubles for refusing to localize the data of Russian users on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Apple was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 8 of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of personal data”).
It should be noted that this is the first protocol against the company under the above article on an administrative offense.
Representatives of Apple Inc asked the court not to hold the company liable and said that it is not responsible for collecting data in Russia, since the Irish company Apple Distribution International is doing this.
In response to this, the Roskomnadzor lawyer stated that the protocol was drawn up correctly, since the administrator of the Apple site on which the data of Russians is collected is Apple Inc, and there is no information about other legal entities.
