In recent interviews, the developers from Square Enix went into the improvements and features of the new role-playing game “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion”. Among other things, a hard mode and an improved combat system are promised.
After the official announcement of the remaster a few days ago, the developers at Square Enix said a few more words about “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion” in recent interviews. Among other things, the history of role-playing was discussed.
As confirmed in this regard, no changes will be made to the story. Instead, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII’s storyline is carried over 1:1 from the PlayStation Portable original. On the other hand, clearly visible improvements are made to the character models of Zack, Sephiroth or Aeris, which have been redesigned with a lot of effort. The same applies to the cutscenes, which have been graphically polished and also provided with a voice output.
According to Square Enix, all scenes in which characters appear and dialogue can be found. In addition to the most important characters, this also applies to the NPCs.
The combat system and the camera have been extensively improved
Since the modern controllers have more input options than the PlayStation Portable of its time, both the combat system and the camera work have been optimized. According to the developers responsible for the game, various elements from the combat system of Final Fantasy VII Remake have been carried over into Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, including the mode switch that enables Zack to unleash powerful attacks.
In addition, the general speed of the fights has been increased, since in the remaster it is possible to combine attacks into spectacular combos and select magic attacks or skills via shortcuts. Since part of the “Digital Mind Wave” cutscenes have been removed from the fights and limit breaks or summons can be activated at your own discretion, the fights should now be much more fluid.
While the story has been carried over from the original, all assets of the game world have been redesigned and minor adjustments have been made to the camera work and the locations of secrets such as the treasure chests. Changes primarily intended to benefit playability. Finally, it was announced that the hard mode from the EU and US versions of the original is back and can be selected from the start.
