A few days before the release of the Interior/Night title, which will appear on July 19, let’s take a look at the details concerning multiplayer, cross-platform, the Companion application and several aspects of the game with, despite everything, several questions. which remain unresolved to this day.
Multiplayer:
The multiplayer mode can be played in local co-op as well as online with your Xbox Live friends, where 8 players can therefore undertake this adventure at the same time. But how does this materialize on a narrative game where the choices have very important consequences on the course of the story, more than 8 at the same time? The game development team has found THE solution that seems really well suited for this type of game. Each player will be able to make their own choices by voting, and it is the majority that will allow the plot to progress in one way or the other. One, or more, “jokers” may be allocated to the various players by the host at the start of the game. These “bonuses” will allow you to validate one of your choices without needing the majority.
This taking part will mean that your story will never be the same from one game to another because the choices will not depend only on you, and the turn your story will take may not be the one you would have taken alone! No matchmaking planned, players will have to invite each other to be able to do a session together. Locally, everything happens on the same screen, each player will have to connect to the session via a controller or the Companion application (which will serve as a controller for local multiplayer). The multiplayer will be entirely cross-platform, whether you are on Steam, Windows, Game Pass (PC or Console) or even on mobile and tablet via xCloud, everyone will be able to join in the same session. Of course, the title will remain entirely playable in solo.
Streaming:
Streamers have not been put aside since a person who broadcasts his game will be able to link his Twitch account so that the chat can interact live with the game. An original and very nice idea solution for people with a well-established community on Twitch, and for those who follow him. The choices during the game will therefore be taken, not by the person who plays, but by his community present in his chat during his live. Just be aware that the multiplayer mode will not be accessible for people who use this feature.
The As Dusk Falls Companion app:
This will allow 8 players to connect to the same machine (PC or Console) without the need for 8 controllers. Available on iOS and Android, this application will work in a very simple way for a gaming session with up to 8 players. No need to have the game in your possession to participate in a local game via the application, a simple code to enter into the latter will allow you to connect to the session and participate via your smartphone or tablet.
Accessibility and other settings:
The development team wanted to make the game accessible to everyone and therefore included extensive settings in it. Whether on the texts (choice of color, possibility of audio description, font sizes, choice of background on the dialogues, etc.) or on the gameplay itself (increase in time for QTEs, removal of the time limit for dialogue choices, color blind mode, etc., everything is taken into account to make the game accessible to everyone. This type of choice only confirms Microsoft’s desire to focus its policy on accessibility. In addition to this, you will be able to find the more “classic” settings present in many games such as key remapping (on keyboard/mouse or on controller), cursor sensitivity and many others.
As Dusk Falls will therefore be available on July 19 on Xbox Series X|S, among others, and directly on Game Pass (Xbox and PC). So you have no excuses not to try the latter at least to discover its universe.
