Halo Infinite has been causing a stir on Xbox and PC since December last year, but some may have lost track of how the story is developing. A prequel should now remedy the situation, albeit in a somewhat unusual form.

Anyone who hasn’t followed Halo’s story down to the last detail may have been a bit confused with the release of Halo Infinite, because the plot hasn’t always been easy to follow since Halo 4. At one moment, the Master Chief is being pursued by another team of Spartans and suddenly he’s in Halo Infinite in the semi-open game world surrounding Zeta Halo. For many, there is also a gap as to what happened directly in the run-up to the new game – and here a prequel could now remedy the situation, which may also clarify some things about Captain Locke that remain a mystery in Halo Infinite.

“Halo: The Rubicon Protocol” will be released next month – but this is not a new video game, but a spin-off of a different kind. In this case, what is meant is a book that is a prequel to current video game hit.

Specifically, the book then picks up on the events that took place within the six months before your trip to Halo Infinite. The novel will be written by Kelly Gay, who has previously successfully completed several Halo projects. Therefore, according to most fans, the prequel story should be in good hands.

Halo: The Rubicon Protocol is scheduled for release on August 9, 2022. This announcement, however, keeps fans waiting for a DLC for the game itself, because such remains unannounced. There are rumors about additional content after 343 Industries registered a trademark for “Halo: The Endless” in December 2021.

Halo Infinite – Season 2: Lone Wolves takes off
