The survey was conducted in May and found that 1.6 percent of all U.S. adults identify as transgender or nonbinary. For people 18 to 29 years old, about 5.1 percent identified as either transgender or nonbinary, according to the survey. For those 30 to 49 years old, it was about 1.6 percent.
