After yesterday’s presentation of the action role-playing game “Diablo 4”, the question of possible micro-transactions or in-game purchases quickly arose due to the PR debacle with “Diablo Immortal”. In order to take the wind out of the sails of possible speculation, Blizzard Entertainment provided clarity on request.
During yesterday’s “Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022” we were given a detailed look at the upcoming action role-playing game “Diablo 4”.
The features presented included, among other things, the possibility of using numerous customization options and designing your own hero or heroine individually. After the PR debacle surrounding “Diablo Immortal”, which made a negative impression, especially with its exaggerated in-game purchases, the fear quickly arose that this type of microtransactions would also be part of “Diablo 4”. could.
In order to prevent any rumors and speculation from arising in the first place, Blizzard Entertainment’s global community lead Adam Fletcher provided clarity when asked by the streamer “Gothalion”. As Fletcher assured, the microtransactions or in-game purchases in “Diablo 4” will be optional and will not affect the gameplay itself.
In-game purchases do not go beyond optional cosmetic content
Instead, only separately available cosmetic extras that are used in character customization will find their way into the in-game shop. Possible premium expansions for “Diablo 4” are also available for a fee. In this regard, however, nothing is ready for a decision, as Adam Fletcher explained. However, further details on this topic are to follow “soon”.
“Diablo 4 will be released as a full-price title designed exclusively for the PC and console audience,” said Fletcher. “The game is huge and there will be a lot of content for all players after launch. Paid content is based on optional cosmetic items and eventually full expansions. We will share more information soon.”
