In the new open-world action-adventure, the developers of Ashen want to combine mystical locations and stories with a high-tech approach. A new trailer shows the heroine, Nor Vanek, in action.
The player takes on the role of Nor Vanek, a member of the coalition army who wages a personal vendetta against the gods. One does not travel alone but is accompanied by the mystical companion Enki, a strange fox-like being with magical powers. Driven by a thirst for vengeance, the two lead humanity’s final siege together and explore an open world where they journey through desert sands, cavernous ruins and vast cities steeped in mystery.
Fantasy meets black powder
An interesting twist on the game’s setting is that it is apparently inspired by the fantasy genre. Here, however, black powder weapons and the corresponding technology are combined with dark magic and the powers of ancient gods. Thus roasted, humans have for the first time a real chance to fight against the tremendous strength and magical powers of the gods. The scenes shown are quite atmospheric, but a flawless AAA production is not to be expected – even if the furry companion is likely to arouse the curiosity of a lot of players.
Flintlock – The Siege of Dawn is due out later this year for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and will be part of the Game Pass from release date.
