Overwatch 2’s PvP multiplayer becomes free-to-play. ActivisionBlizzard and Microsoft announced this at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. Multiplayer battles are scheduled to start in October 2022.

Free for everyone

With this, the developers provided the answer to the long-standing question asked by many fans: why is there Overwatch 2 at all? After all, many of the scenes shown so far have not given the impression of offering much more than just an Overwatch update.

With the switch to the free-to-play model, ActivisionBlizzard should open up completely new layers of players who want to take a quick look at the Blizzard shooter coming from Valorant or League of Legends.

Early Access launches on October 4th

Interested players can start early access on October 4th. Overwatch 2 will offer crossplay across all platforms – and initially only the PvP multiplayer will be playable. There’s also a new tank heroine called Junker Queen.

Overwatch 2 will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S | X and Nintendo Switch appear.
