The famous mangaka, reputed to be one of the greatest talents in terms of horror, will therefore transpose a work again. And not just one. The anime series Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre to be released in 2023 on Netlfix will be based on 20 stories by the author. The first will be from Tomie, Souichi and The Hanging Balloons. Itô-san and his new collaborators have yet to decide on the stories to remember.
I am happy to present a new project based on my manga. It is called Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre. I selected 20 of my stories to adapt them for the first time in anime. Today, I’m going to specially introduce three of them: Tomie, Souichi and The Hanging Balloons.
