Foxconn’s war for talent in Vietnam has intensified as Apple’s main foundry partners shifted some production capacity from China to Southeast Asia. Liu Yangwei, chairman of Foxconn, said recently that competitors have started to build factories near Foxconn’s Vietnam campus to poach their own employees. Liu Yangwei refused to disclose the specific names of these companies. He said: “When these factories saw where Foxconn was building a factory, they went to buy a piece of land next to the factory. They wanted to use this method to ride on the ‘ride car’ and rely on high salaries.
