Some secrets in the gaming world are so poorly guarded that the question of an announcement is not one of if, but one of how. Capcom is a particular expert here, and thanks to countless leaks, it was clear long before the unveiling of the Resident Evil 4 remake: the thing is coming. Now the announcement is officially out, and after a first teaser during Sony’s last State of Play, there was a … unfortunately not so big second batch of information and insights about the remake as part of Capcom’s own streaming show called Capcom Showcase from Resident Evil 4. We summarize!

What’s new in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

Not surprisingly, the game’s graphics have undergone a general overhaul compared to the original, as first comparisons impressively show. Nevertheless, the game is intended to remain very true to the 2005 template, at least as far as the “spirit” of the horror game is concerned. At the same time, this does not mean that everything will remain the same. Resident Evil 4 Remake aims to feel modern despite paying homage to the original. This should be much easier compared to the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, since Resi 4 was already a much more modern game back then, which has not influenced third-party games for years for nothing.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: First trailer for the remake of the survival horror hit

And so there is no new view in Resident Evil 4 Remake, instead the over-the-shoulder perspective returns. That was already to be assumed after the first trailer, now all those who were afraid of a first-person view like in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8 have confirmation.

But: Has it been adjusted anyway? Can you now run and shoot at the same time, as is the case with the Resident Evil 4 VR Meta Quest 2 implementation, or do you have to stop to shoot like in the old days? Capcom still owes these and many other details for the time being. Likewise, information on any story extensions and additional modes such as Mercenary or the Ada Wong campaigns. It’s time to wait!
