Capcom used its own showcase last night to announce a major expansion for the current Resident Evil Village. The Winters add-on is scheduled for release in the fall.
Anyone who has been longingly waiting for supplies for the current horror part Resident Evil Village will finally be heard by Capcom. Last night, the studio officially announced the Winters expansion, which will be released on October 28, 2022 for all supported platforms for which the main game is already available.
The new content includes a third-person mode for the campaign, The Mercenaries Additional Orders featuring new stages and playable characters Chris Redfield, Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu, and the continuation of the story in Shadows of Rose.
16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village tells this new story of Rose Winters, the daughter of main protagonist Ethan, as she struggles with her fearsome powers. You explore a twisted and mysterious realm in the mind of the Megamycete in search of a cure and must survive there.
In addition to the add-on, the Gold Edition of the game was also announced, which will include the actual main game as well as the Winters expansion. This will also be available from October 28th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC (Steam) and Stadia.
And: The multiplayer experience Resident Evil RE:Verse also has a start date: On the same day, this long-promised, independent part will also go online and will be free for all players of the main game – as previously promised. Last but not least, the development of Resident Evil Village for the VR headset PlayStation VR 2 as well as for the Mac has been confirmed once again.
On the whole, it has remained relatively quiet about the Resident Evil 4 remake, which was only announced a few days ago. Director Ysuhiro Ampo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said something about the reinterpretation of the classic from 2005 at the showcase, but there was no real gameplay to see. However, the two developers emphasized that they wanted to reinforce the original’s key feelings of loneliness and fear of opponents. The release of the remake is scheduled for March 24, 2023.
