Content & structure

The Tesvor R5 came in relatively plain packaging. Unfortunately, the content was again surrounded by a lot of plastic, which in my opinion just doesn’t make sense anymore for many things. Hopefully the manufacturer will think a little more about the environment in the future. The packaging contains the main device, the handle, the pure water tank, the charging station including the power supply unit, an accessory box and the roller, a cleaning tool and a filter.

The construction of the device was not really complicated. The handle is plugged into the main unit and the roller is attached to the bottom. It’s all installed within 10 minutes. Due to the relatively heavy body, the device does not appear very manoeuvrable.

Suction & wiping performance

Now we come to what is perhaps the most interesting point: the performance. And I’m a bit disappointed there, especially when you keep the RRP in mind. The Tesvor R5 has a water tank for fresh water and dirty water. The roller below is moistened and the dirt is also picked up by vacuuming.

So it is clear in advance: The device only works on hard floors, as carpets would be watered. It’s a good thing that all my rooms are made of tiles. But what did I imagine? I once saw a Vorwerk “suck wiper” with some kind of vibrating plate and thought this would be a cheap alternative. In contrast to the Vorwerk, the device is inexpensive, but the functions leave me with question marks.

I often have dust and maybe a bit more stubborn dirt on the floor. Especially if drinks or any liquids have dripped onto the floor. Now I thought that I would go over there with the Tesvor R5 and bang clean. It wasn’t like that. Firstly because I have the feeling that there is hardly any pressure behind it and secondly because I also have gaps between the tiles and the R5 is practically wiping over them.

In my opinion, the biggest problem is the lack of pressure. More stubborn stains hardly or not at all go away, unless you literally scrub over them. Furthermore, the whole thing is very difficult. The speed of the device is rather low even in turbo mode, so that it takes quite a while until you have moistened the floor reasonably well and it was clean.

The display shows some relevant functions. The device should recognize how dirty the floor is. But that was too imprecise and too little for me. I’ve always run turbo mode. There are also error messages if the roller is not properly seated or the container is full or empty. My Tesvor R5 also has problems in between that air is probably being drawn in somewhere. That was definitely not the case. I was very annoyed by an error message that came up for inexplicable reasons.

Conclusion anticipated: I’m rather less enthusiastic. I was hoping for too much. After using the device 2-3 times, the water tank is not empty (fresh water) and not full (dirty water). In the beginning I used the device every day. But already after 3 days something very unpleasant started: the stench of dirty water. And it was really disgusting.

I have a 70m² apartment. The 1 liter water tank should be enough for up to 200m². Of course it wasn’t empty. But that it really smells so quickly – unpleasant. Cleaning the whole device is not that easy either. You can get the solid dirt up with a sieve and throw it in the residual waste, the dirty water then has to be dumped away. I would recommend the toilet for this ;-) .

Oh yes: You should run the “self-cleaning” of the device after each cleaning. Then at least it’s worth emptying. I put the containers in the dishwasher first to get rid of the smell. It even worked very well, but for me it’s no longer a measure for the future. By the way, the big “foot” is so high that it doesn’t fit under all pieces of furniture…

Conclusion

Unfortunately, the device failed for me. I’ve become a big fan of the Tesvor vacuum robots. For me, the vacuum wiper is not an alternative to a real mop with cleaning agents. I can build up much more pressure with a conventional wiper and even dose the water better. The tank is relatively large, so I never got the water empty. After several days, this really nasty stink.

In principle, the device does what it promises. It vacuums and wipes. However, not as hoped. Definitely suitable for a quick wipe in between, but I would advise against cleaning an entire apartment with a decent cleaning performance. For 400 € the fun is not cheap either.
