Announced last week by director Todd Philipps in person via his Instagram account, the sequel Joker: Madness for Two has been in the media for a few hours following a scoop swung by The Hollywood Reporter. The newspaper reports that Lady Gaga is currently in talks with the production to take over the role of Harley Quinn in the film. It’s no wonder the role went to someone other than Margot Robbie since Todd Philipps’ Joker doesn’t fit in with the DCU that Warner has been developing in recent years. It is all the more logical that the singer and actress was selected, she who has already worked with Todd Phillips in A Star is Born (2018), the latter being the producer of the film. And when we know that she shared the poster with Bradley Cooper who was a producer on the first Joker, we discover that ultimately everything is linked. Where this sequel takes a surprising turn are rumors of a project that would take the form of a musical. The Hollywood Reporter remains quite vague on it and we must try to understand if the whole film will be shot as such, or if we can expect just a few segments sung in the footage. So many questions that remain unanswered, but which makes the canvas react enormously, especially after this particularly dark first episode where there was no room for the slightest smile.
