Fritz Meinecke is a German YouTuber, adventurer and urban explorer. He became known through his adventurous travels and the reality show 7 vs. Wild. For his new project, he and two friends covered a distance of 2,500 kilometers by bike, always accompanied by a camera, of course. The YouTuber is now putting the compilation of the trip online episode by episode, but episode 3 got him caught in the crossfire.
Sexist joke and clickbait at the expense of a young woman
In episode 3 of the Berlin-Istanbul trip, Meinecke and his companions cross the Slovakian-Hungarian border. Very early in the video you can see the three men walking down a country road and passing a scantily clad woman. This runs up and down the roadside. Meinecke not only keeps the camera on her, but also comments on the situation with “F*cki, f*cki, 5 euros”. To make matters worse, the lady has not even been censored.
It is unclear whether the said woman is actually a prostitute. But the accompanying saying was particularly negative for the viewers. In addition, although she was only visible for a few seconds, the lady was shown from both the front and the back on the video thumbnail, also uncensored, and included in the video title. This was also heavily criticized by the viewers. The title and thumbnail have at least been changed in the meantime.
Fritz Meinecke’s double standard is in the pillory
But not only this scene is viewed critically by the viewers. Later in the video you can see how an elderly cyclist falls over next to the three men with his bike. They help him up and talk to him a little. The camera not only clearly shows the said cyclist, who was also not censored, but also his luggage. Meinecke finds an empty bottle with 10.5% content and holds it directly in front of the camera. He then condemns the passer-by for his alcohol consumption. “I would say: drink more water and not so much alcohol.”
In the next scene, while the group is already on the road again, he comments on this situation again and explains that this is a very serious topic that shouldn’t be laughed at because you never know for sure what kind destiny have people behind them.
His viewers are convinced that this philosophy must also apply to supposed prostitutes. For example, YouTube user Excalibur writes in the comments: “Fritz: Fxcki Fxcki 5 euros Fritz too: “You never know what kind of fate people have behind them””.
Poverty or human trafficking often drive women in these countries to sell their bodies on the streets. What reasons the woman in this video may have had, if she was actually a prostitute, is of course not known, but one should not assume that this trade is practiced entirely voluntarily.
