The new MacBook Air M2 is coming later this week, but the reviews haven’t been released yet, so we haven’t really seen anything much other than the original WWDC. While it’s not what many expected, thanks to one of our sources, we were able to get some images of the innards of the new M2 MacBook Air.
These first two images give us a good overview of the hinge, speakers, headphone jack, and USB C ports. These connectors are pretty standard on Apple products, but the photos show that the speakers are in the hinge and not next to the keyboard on the MacBook Pro. Sound quality on the M2 MacBook Air is likely to suffer due to this speaker placement.
The other two images give us a look at the battery cells and the force touch trackpad. It looks like a classic three-piece Apple battery, and the Force touch trackpad doesn’t offer much that’s new. We got more familiar with Apple’s cooling system for the MacBook Air, which looks like a large heatsink covered in graphite tape to conduct heat.
We’ll also take a closer look at the new Midnight colorway for the MacBook Air. It looks much bluer in these images compared to Apple product renders and WWDC hands-on photos. This difference can only lie in the lighting in which the source took the images. No one knows for sure until the device is available on Friday.
These images give us a good look at the inside of the M2 MacBook Air. More detailed images of specific chips, specifically the M2, will likely begin to surface over the next few days as we get closer to the M2 MacBook Air, which hits store shelves on July 15th.
