With the mobile game Disney Mirrorverse, developer Kabam Games (“Marvel Storm of the Superheroes”) reinterprets the popular Disney universe. We tried out the action role-playing game and now we’re telling you whether fans of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck will get their money’s worth.
Is this a Kingdom Hearts alternative?
The Disney empire is already offering through the Google Play Store numerous mobile games on. From the Candy Crush clone (“Disney Princess Majestic Quest”) to the classic Jump-n-Run Castle of Illusion, there is something for every taste. Now the Mouse House is adding a new entry to the catalogue.
Disney fans have been able to dive into the Mirrorverse since June 23, 2022. This is an alternative reality to the Disney worlds we know. These are haunted by dark creatures (Kingdom Hearts says hello) and it’s your job to bring peace with Mulan, Hercules and Buzz Lightyear.
What is particularly striking is the adapted design of the famous figures. Almost all Disney characters only wear armor and In this form, they are reminiscent of the champions from League of Legends or other popular MOBA games. This makes the entire game look much more mature than comparable Disney games.
The gameplay is there a mix of real-time battles and classic gacha elements. Level by level you fight countless enemies, become stronger and unlock new Disney characters. However, as usual, particularly strong and valuable figures require a lot of luck.
However, the real-time battles already mentioned are unusual for a gacha game. You control the different heroes directly. You have to hit by pressing a button, dodge in time and after a while you can use powerful special attacks.
Later you can also let the fights run automatically, as is the case with almost all gacha games, but it is precisely the real-time focus that makes the real appeal of the game. In addition to the Disney license, of course.
Criticism hailed from the community
Although the game in general a very good user score has (4.6 stars in Google play store), there is also increasing criticism from the community. Quite a few players complain that later on you only have to very difficult or not progress in the game at all without paying real money.
In addition, all fights are running according to the same scheme which becomes monotonous after a while.
Disney Mirrorverse is free to play and available from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
