Video game fans have high hopes for the series adaptation of The Last of Us, after all it is being produced by the renowned US broadcaster HBO. But when can we expect the broadcast? In this regard, there is now at least a small new bit of information.

The US broadcaster HBO, which is also responsible for “Game of Thrones”, is known to be working on a TV series for the blockbuster The Last of Us, but former hopes for a series start in 2022 can already be shelved. Instead, the TV adaptation should only cause a sensation next year, but when exactly?

In this regard, there is still no official announcement from the US broadcaster, but HBO President Casey Bloys releases at least a small snippet of information in a new interview. In conversation with the well-known entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporters he not only commented on the future of HBO in general, but also on the supposed blockbuster series.

While the official reading is still simply 2023 for the start of “The Last of Us” on HBO, Bloys said in an interview that the release should be “closer to early” in 2023. In short: We won’t have to wait until the end of the year, but will be able to enjoy the series at least in the first half of the year. Based on this statement, the online community is speculating about a release as early as the first quarter of 2023, but that might be going a step too far. Either way: fans of the franchise can be happy that they don’t have to wait until late autumn 2023.

The TV adaptation of the successful Sony franchise was announced in March 2020. It stars Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones”, “The Mandalorian”) as Joel and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) as Ellie. Nick Offerman does the honors as Bill.
