Microsoft routinely released new security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on patch day June 2022, and for the first time there was also a security update for the still unreleased version 22H2. Two minor functional changes have also been introduced.

Let’s start with Windows 10: Cumulative update KB5014699 for Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1 and 20H2 increases the build number to 1904x.1766 and includes the latest security updates. As usual, the associated and unspectacular changelog can be found at Microsoft be viewed.

That’s a little more exciting Update KB5014697 for Windows 11 with OS Build 22000.739 – at least if the optional update from the end of May has not been installed.

In this case, in addition to various bug fixes, you also get the “Windows Spotlight” option in the wallpaper settings of Windows 11. If you activate this, the desktop backgrounds will be replaced regularly from now on, the images come from Microsoft and come from the Bing collection .

Microsoft has also revised the Microsoft Family Safety confirmation dialog when a child account requests additional usage time. Due to the lack of a practical example, I don’t have a screenshot of it.

With KB5014688 (Build 22621.105), the Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Ring will also receive a patch day update for the Windows 11 version 22H2 for the first time, which has thus entered its regular maintenance mode, even if the release date is still unknown.
