As part of the “Extended Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase”, the developers at Gun Media have released a first gameplay trailer for the asymmetrical multiplayer title “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”. It was also conceded that the title will no longer appear in 2022.

In the run-up to The Game Awards 2021, developers Gun Media announced the ongoing work on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre last year.

In terms of play, the title is based on works such as “Dead by Daylight” or “Friday the 13th: The Game” and sees itself as an asymmetric multiplayer title. One player takes on the role of Leatherface and chases the rest of the participants, who try to solve given tasks and escape alive.

As announced in the Extended Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will no longer be released this year and is instead slated for a 2023 release. Incidentally, Gun Media’s new work will be available on PC and Xbox platforms from day one via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass respectively.

To complement this announcement, the creators of Gun Media have released a fresh gameplay trailer for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which gives you the first scenes from the ongoing gameplay. The new multiplayer horror title is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, with only the PC and current console conversions being made by Gun Media.

Meanwhile, Sumo Nottingham developers, who have been brought on board to help, will port The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and, according to Gun Media, will ensure that the multiplayer horror title is also available on the old platforms looks good.

As promised in the official announcement, Gun Media is working on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to authentically recreate the atmosphere and look of the cult horror flick from the 1970s. To what extent this will succeed, we will find out next year.
