Vampire hunting was very popular at one time. According to historical accounts, this task was important and required appropriate tools. Recently, a mysterious vampire hunter’s kit came up for sale at an auction. It sold for six times its original price. In addition, many offers have been sent from all over the world. This box would have been bequeathed to its new owner for the tidy sum of $15,600.

What did this box contain?

The lucky priority of this box now has a complete kit to hunt vampires. The box contains various gunsof the gunpowder flasks brass,Holy water but also pious and wooden mallets. The box itself is adorned with brass crucifixes to engage the unlocking system.

But that’s not all, it also contains documents from the Metropolitan Police. These documents chronicling London’s darkest mysteries were written in 1915. According to Charles Hanson, the owner ofHansons Auctioneersthe presence of religious objects such as crucifixes and prayer beads helps repel vampires more than pistols.

Once, this kit would have belonged to Lord Hailey. He was a former British aristocrat but also an Indian colonial administrator. Until now, the reason why he bought the kit is not known. Moreover, during the time he was still alive, the legend about the existence of vampires was very persistent. But according to Hanson, it’s possible that Hailey also bought it out of sheer curiosity.

vampire mythology

It was towards the end of the 19th century that rumors about vampires took over the city of London. Indeed, two women from the village died of tuberculosis but what most caught the attention of the people is that the son of this woman was also suffering. According to local superstitions, vampires continued to prey on the living even when underground. It was during this same time that the famous writer Bram Stoker wrote the novel about Count Dracula.

What caused the rumor to persist the most would have been science. LiveScience reports that after death, certain substances produced by the organs of the body escape from the mouth or nose. This black liquid would have the same texture as blood. In addition, certain parts of the body such as hair and nails continue to grow. This theory makes inhabitants believe that once dead, people are not totally dead.
