Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Release Preview Build 22000.829 (KB5015882) Update

IT House reported on July 15 that Microsoft has released the KB5015882 update to the Release Preview preview channel currently running Windows 11, with the version number upgraded to Build 22000.829.

Microsoft also reported a known issue in today’s release. “On some devices, widgets may crash in the background at login, and display a static default icon instead of displaying and updating weather information,” the Windows development team wrote.

IT Home has learned that today’s update includes the following, mainly bug fixes:

• We’ve brought you the ability to receive emergency notifications when Focus Assistant is turned on.

• Direct updates to the latest system version during the OOBE phase are now supported when a new eligible device logs in for the first time. If you select “Update to a newer version” at boot time, the update will start automatically shortly after.

• We restored functionality for Windows Autopilot deployment scenarios that were subject to hardware reuse security. This update removes the one-time-use restrictions for Self-Deploying Mode (SDM) and Provisioning Mode (PP). This update also re-enables any User Principal Name (UPN) display under User Driven Mode (UDM) deployments for approved manufacturers.

• We fixed an issue in UIAutomation() that caused the app to stop working.

• We fixed an issue that prevented the Startup Task API from working as expected for some applications.

• We have improved the reliability of “One Key Reset” after an OS upgrade.

• We fixed an issue where the tenant restricted event logging channel would be inaccessible if the EN-US language pack was removed.

• We fixed an issue that caused certificate-based computer account authentication to fail under certain circumstances after installing the May 10, 2022 security update on a domain controller.

• We fixed an issue affecting Arm64EC code built with the Windows 11 Software Development Kit (SDK).

• We updated the Remove-Item cmdlet to properly interact with Microsoft OneDrive folders.

• We fixed an issue that prevented the troubleshooter from opening.

• We fixed an issue that caused container port mapping conflicts.

• We fixed an issue that caused Code Integrity to continue to trust files after they were modified.

• We fixed an issue that could cause Windows to stop working when Windows Defender Application Control is enabled with the Smart Security Graph feature enabled.

• We deployed the Search Spotlight feature on the device. For your convenience, we will soon release an updated version of the Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 11 version 21H2 to the Microsoft Download Center.

• We fixed an issue that caused the .exe to stop working when you used the play and pause keyboard buttons on some devices.

• We fixed an issue that caused the .exe to stop working when you were using the Start menu’s right-click menu (Win + X) and an external monitor was connected to your device.

• We fixed an issue that displayed a blank window that couldn’t be closed when you hovered over the search icon on the taskbar.

• In IOPS scenarios where there are often many threads contending for a file, we reduce the overhead of resource contention.

• We fixed an issue that caused the Windows Profile Service to occasionally fail. When you log in you may see the error: “gpsvc service failed to sign in. Access is denied”.
