As expected, Blizzard officially launches the Dragonflight alpha. The tests initially concern the vast area of the Travée Azur, huge to allow the dragon’s back flight system to fully express itself.
A few days ago, some attentive players had noticed the Battle.net update in anticipation of the launch of the tests of Dragonflight. It is therefore no surprise that Blizzard now officially launching the alpha of the next extension of World of Warcraftreserved for a handful of players, influencers and those close to the development team.

On social networks, Blizzard specifies that this first alpha session is particularly intended to test in one of the new regions of Dragonflight, the Travée Azur, which the developer presents more details on the official website. With its mountainous expanses “covered with ice, frozen waterfalls, frozen rivers and misty forests”, the region is presented as one of the largest areas in the MMORPGs to date, inspired by the Grisons of Wrath of the Lich King and California Bay. And if the location is so large, it’s no coincidence: as we know, the Dragonfligt expansion incorporates a new dragon flight mechanic and players therefore need large spaces to fully give free rein to their exploration of the game universe.
According to Blizzard, flying in Dragonflight is meant to instill a sense of freedom in players: flying relies on a system of “vigor” gauges that fills like a stamina gauge. mana and which can then be “consumed” to take flight (unless jumping off a cliff to save stamina), then hover, dive in a nose-dive to gain speed before recovering and traveling great distances with his dragon.
“Controllable” flight means rethinking movement in the areas of the set, and obviously Blizzard takes this into account at least in the scope of the Azure Span.
