Wales Interactive has announced Mia and the Dragon Princess, a new interactive movie on Nintendo Switch. The release is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

This quirky action-adventure stars Mia, a spunky bartender whose life is thrown into chaos when a mysterious woman shows up at her workplace. This person is on the run from a group of violent thugs and does not speak English.

The cast includes Paul McGann (Doctor Who, Alien 3, Withnail & I), Brian McCardie (Time, Rob Roy), and MyAnna Buring (The Witcher, Ripper Street), Dita Tantang and Noa Bleeker. Daz Black (DazGames) will be making a guest appearance.

Fight coordinator Marcus Shakesheff (WonderWoman, Hanna, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Pennyworth, Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones) designs the action for Mia and the Dragon Princess. Aaron Gassor, taekwondo instructor and content creator, also known as Ginger Ninja Trickster, does the stunts.

Mia and the Dragon Princess will have real-time attribute tracking that will evolve based on your choices and influence the story. There will also be multi-optional narration with ten different outcomes.

Mia and the Dragon Princess is the first of three interactive movie announcements planned by Wales Interactive. Information on the other projects should therefore follow soon.

Here is the official synopsis of the story:

Mia dreams of adventure, but her sense of responsibility to her co-workers — who have become her surrogate family — forces her to do a job she misses and live a life she doesn’t want. When a mysterious woman (Marshanda) appears, scared and on the run, Mia’s decision to take her under her wing and attempt to uncover her identity leads her down a path of intrigue, mystery and danger.

When a group of thugs, led by the terrifying Walsh (Paul McGann), show up at the bar, Mia and her co-workers are held hostage along with a group of customers. When Mia’s boss, Matthew (Brian McCardie), is injured, the stakes rise and the fight becomes real when Mia and the group find themselves on the run and fighting for their lives.

The spectator’s choices will guide Mia in the adventure and will determine her fate, as well as that of the whole group. Throughout the game, your interactions might increase your knowledge of the mystery woman’s identity, but how Mia treats the rest of the party will also have an impact, so every choice must be carefully considered.
