This summer, ESPN+, owned by Disney, will rise in price a lot. After hitting $6.99 last year, the streaming sports service is expected to jump more than 40% to $9.99 as Disney looks to profit in a competitive media environment. Read on for all the details on ESPN+’s latest price increase.

Variety learned of Disney’s plan to raise the price of ESPN+ from $6.99 to $9.99 on August 23, 2022. The publication says that customers should start receiving notices of price increases next week.

This is a big jump after it increased by just one dollar from $5.99 to $6.99 last summer.

ESPN+ price hike details

Along with the rise in the monthly price to $9.99, the annual rate is expected to rise from $69.99 to $99.99. If you’ve been thinking about signing up for ESPN+, an annual subscription for $69.99 might be a good idea while you still can.

Good news: Disney is not expected to increase the price of the Disney package that includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu by $13.99 per month at this time.

Variety highlights that the price spike is not a big surprise, as Disney CEO Bob Chapek said back in May: “As we increase our investment in content, we believe this will give us an opportunity to adjust our price.”

We saw Disney raise the prices of their Hulu live TV plan back in November, and Netflix raised their prices again in March.
