JD Power has released its latest US Wireless Performance Report. In the second study this year, Verizon received the top award for best network performance. Read on to learn how each carrier ranks across the six US regions.
JD Power’s 2022 US Wireless Quality Survey – Volume 2 includes more than 34,000 responses from wireless customers nationwide between January and June of this year.
The metric that JD Power looked at was the number of network quality issues per 100 connections customers experience for each carrier.
Verizon outperformed T-Mobile and AT&T in almost every region including Mid-Atlantic, North Central, Northeast, Southeast and West.
In the Mid-Atlantic and North Central regions, Verizon leads with 8 problems per 100.
In the Northeast, Southeast, and West regions, Verizon won with 10 problems per 100, while AT&T and T-Mobile followed with 11 and 12 per 100.
AT&T was able to beat Verizon and T-Mobile with 11 problems per 100 connections in the Southwest market.

While AT&T and Verizon are catching up with T-Mobile when it comes to average network speeds, especially with 5G (via Opensignal and PCMag), this new JD Power report solidifies Verizon’s position as the most reliable wireless network in the US.
The study also highlights that all carriers in the US have experienced an increase in network issues since the same study was last published in January 2022. It wasn’t a big increase, but problems increased by about a factor of 2 on average. 3 in 100 since then.
Meanwhile, in the battle for customers, Verizon just launched a new entry-level unlimited 5G plan for $30. And T-Mobile launched free in-flight data, free data worldwide, and expanded its 5G home internet to another 5 million homes.
