This is a sad story, let me take it slow.
A while ago, the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference was held, and Tony stayed up late to watch the official speech video. After watching it, I suddenly felt that the 2018 iPad Pro in my hand was not fragrant.
This is because this year’s iPadOS can be said to be the biggest improvement in history. Apple has brought us the “front-end scheduling” function in the new system, allowing the iPad to truly have multitasking capabilities:
In addition, through pre-stage scheduling, we can also choose to connect the iPad to an external monitor, so that the iPad and the monitor can display multiple apps together, and files and apps can even be dragged and dropped between the two screens.
One thing to say, when I saw this new feature of iPadOS, I was greedy at the time. Rounding it up is like half macOS!
However, I didn’t expect Cook to keep a hand. The pre-stage scheduling is only suitable for iPads equipped with M1 chips. If your iPad is not the latest Air or Pro, you will not be able to experience this heavy function.
Tsk tsk tsk, I have to say that this year’s Apple’s new system, the knife skills are still superb, isn’t it clear that we want us to buy a new machine.
So I thought about selling my 2018 iPad Pro and then buying a new one, but when I took a picture of this iPad, I accidentally found it. . . bent? !
At first, I thought it was an illusion caused by an angle problem.
So I put the iPad flat on the table and tried to press a few corners with my fingers. It turned out that it was not flat on the table at all. The feeling of rebound can be clearly felt when I pressed it, which almost didn’t let me directly emo.
As we all know, the quality of second-hand digital products will directly affect its price. For example, my iPad, which has been bent to the naked eye, is a question of whether it can be sold, regardless of how much it will lose.
So I started to search on the Internet what to do if the iPad is bent. I never thought that I didn’t know if I didn’t search. After a search, I found that I was far more than the only one who encountered the iPad becoming bent. My situation is actually quite good.
Not to mention, seeing this iPad that has been bent into a seesaw, I immediately felt that the degree of bending of my iPad is nothing at all~
According to the feedback from the treasures on Xiaohongshu, almost all models of iPads have the possibility of bending the body.
Among them, the large and thin iPad Air and iPad Pro series are the most prone to bending, especially the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which has a significantly higher probability of bending than other iPads of several sizes:
And what’s interesting is that those iPads that have been bent are also bent in various directions. In addition to being bent vertically from top to bottom in the center of the screen, there are also horizontally bent from left to right on the charging interface:
Some iPads are even bent at the camera, which I did not expect:
The basic iPad with a non-full screen and the smaller iPad mini series are relatively less prone to bending.
Especially the iPad mini, I browsed the Internet a lot, and I only saw one or two cases of the mini bending, which is not very obvious. Sure enough, there are big problems and small benefits.
Tony studied it carefully and found that there are various reasons for the iPad to bend.
A long time ago, Apple said that the process of cooling metal and plastic parts does cause slight deviations in the flatness of some iPad Pros, but this does not affect the normal use of the device.
And in the final analysis, the bending caused by stress in the production process is extremely slight, and it cannot even be called bending. At most, there is a tolerance. Most of those iPads with obvious bending are actually caused by external force.
For example, the lens of some models of iPad itself has bulges, which makes these iPads not lay flat on the table without a case, and it is easy to bend when you press your hand on the screen to write for a long time.
Or if you didn’t pay attention and pressed your butt or elbow on the iPad, it will probably bend too:
Like my colleague next to me, his 2020 iPad Pro has been streaking and drawing all the time, so there is also a slight curvature:
Of course, there are also big grievances just taking off the iPad from the protective case or applying the tempered film to the iPad, and accidentally using too much force caused the iPad to bend~
As for my iPad Pro.
Probably because I often put it on the innermost layer of my school bag, and then press the camera on it. I woke up a few times and found my head resting on it, and it was naturally bent. Bar.
After discovering that his iPad Pro was bent, Tony also tried several methods to straighten the iPad again.
First of all, what netizens have introduced the most is the Dafa of pressing the book. First, find a flat surface such as a desktop, then buckle the iPad screen upside down on it, then press the book on it, and use the weight of the book to flatten the tablet.
However, I pressed it for a few days and found that the effect was not great, and when the book was taken away, the tablet would still bend back.
But it may also be because I have too few stacks of books, because I saw a whole stack of books more than one meter high on it:
Someone even added two extra dumbbells to the book!
Unfortunately, Tony couldn’t find so many props for a while, so I tried the second method, which is to play games on the iPad to make the body heat up, and then flatten it while it is still hot.
This method is a very test of breaking technology. You can’t use your fingers to directly press the middle, otherwise the force area is too small and the force will be too much. You can only lay one part of the table flat and then use your palm to break the other part.
In addition, because the energy consumption ratio of Apple’s chip is a bit too good, the body only heats up slightly after playing the king for half an hour, so I suggest you to play Genshin with full picture quality, which can save a lot of warm-up time~
Don’t tell me, the effect of this method is almost immediate. The degree of bending of the iPad is significantly reduced, but after so much tossing, it seems to bend in other directions, and it is really difficult to grasp the force.
The poor friends must keep one thing in mind when breaking it, that is, it is better to apply less force than too much force, after all, the iPad is quite brittle:
Of course, if you bought Apple’s official AppleCare+ service when you bought the iPad, it would be very easy, just spend 368 after-sales and replace it with a new one:
In short, if the iPad in your hands has not been bent, I still recommend that you pay more attention not to let the iPad press heavy objects, and don’t think that everything will be fine with the case, and it has to be bent when it is time to bend. If your iPad has become bent, as long as it does not affect the use, then continue to use it. After all, it is just a tool, there is no need to protect it like a baby, and it will not care after a long time~
Not to mention, I am ready to use my iPad Pro for scrap, thank you for watching!
