The Sims 4 announces new feature “Sexual Orientation”.

Electronic Arts and Maxis today announced another step to make The Sims 4 immersive experiences even more inclusive.

Later this month, as part of a free base game update, the Sexual Orientation feature will be implemented, which will allow Sims to be attracted to each other in new and flexible ways to give players more freedom in how they play.

The new Sexual Orientation feature will be added to the Create a Sim menu via a base game update to coincide with the release of the High School Years Expansion Pack. This allows Sims to experience the attraction in a variety of ways. Players can give their Sims the following experiences:

  • same-sex or opposite-sex attraction
  • physical but not romantic attraction
  • Romantic but not physical attraction
  • No attraction at all
  • Experiment with attraction through interactions with other Sims

Inclusion has been a core value of The Sims for more than 22 years, and the diverse development team proudly presents this feature as a reflection of the world we live in and a reflection of the ways we interact and experience each other. The Sims team believes that the issue of sexual orientation is important, complex, and intrinsic to how people experience the world and how communities are formed. With the support of the non-profit organizations It Gets Better and GLAAD, The Sims 4 has created a detailed and constructive option for players to experiment with their Sims’ different forms of sexual orientation.
