Despite the announcement of its postponement a little earlier in the year, red fall quietly continues its development. It seemed obvious, however, a week ago that Xbox could not forget it during its Showcase and we were not disappointed since it was one of the first titles we saw. Some questions about how multiplayer games work, however, had not been answered. We now know more.

Windows Central had the opportunity to chat with Harvey Smith, Chief Creative Officer at Arkane Austin about red fall. Known among other things for having worked on SystemShock, Deus Ex, Dishonored 1 and 2, or Prey, as much to say that it is not the first comer. This one reveals during the interview several interesting information on the options offered in the game.

  • First of all, if four different characters (Jacob Boyer, Remi de la Rosa, Devinder Crousley and Layla Ellison) can be selected, nothing will prevent cooperative players from choosing the same avatar. No limitation of the game at this level.
  • red fall is meant to be an experience to be lived fully together but if you feel like embarking on the adventure alone, know that you will be… alone. No AI will take place at your side. Good luck !
  • In co-op mode, all story progression related items will still be tied to the host.

A bit like a save in State of Decay 2, it is the host of the game who will keep the benefits, the guests will therefore only be there to support him. It remains to be seen how the sessions are organized and their durations.
