Earlier, Twitter had asked the court to expedite the proceedings, citing risks from the recent economic downturn. And asked for a trial by mid-September.

On Tuesday, Twitter formally filed a lawsuit in the Chancery Court in Delaware, where the company is registered, asking the court to order Musk to complete the acquisition at a previously agreed price of $44 billion. Just three days ago, the world’s richest man officially announced the termination of the acquisition, citing Twitter’s breach of contract.

On July 9, Musk formally notified Twitter that he was terminating the acquisition agreement because the social media company had failed to provide information about the fake accounts. Musk said the company had not “complied with its contractual obligations.” In response, the Twitter chairman responded: See you in court.

As a result, Twitter formally sued Elon Musk on Tuesday, accusing him of violating an agreement to buy the company for $44 billion (about 295.24 billion yuan) and asking a Delaware court to order Musk to Agreed to complete the merger agreement at $54.20 per share.
