Since its launch in October 2021, Windows 11 has not stopped evolving in small steps through updates provided regularly by Microsoft. The next one tests some new features for the taskbar.
After the fresh look of the Windows 11 interface last October, Microsoft is seeking to improve the experience of its operating system by regularly making changes and new features. The next to come may well change the use of the taskbar!
Several taskbars in test
The build 25158 of the Insider version of Windows 11 indeed contains three possibilities for this central element of the interface of the operating system. Microsoft explains that some PCs may display slightly different taskbars. In fact, the publisher has planned three versions: the first is the one that integrates the magnifying glass that activates the search engine.
The second and third simply display a more or less large search field, which is reminiscent of Windows 10. Microsoft explains that these are “visual treatments” for which the company seeks to obtain the maximum feedback from testers. The Insider version of Windows 11 is precisely intended for all users who want to experience new features before everyone else. However, some of them do not pass the test. We’ll see which taskbar gets the most favor.
Also in the taskbar, widget icons now feature badges. This can for example be an indicator of a change in the weather. After clicking on the icon, the widgets screen opens with a banner at the top of the window explaining the reason for the badge. As below for a “Breaking news” notification:
These new features, if validated by the testers, may then be available to the general public in the coming months.
