Yesterday, Elon Musk had a meeting with employees on Twitter where he answered questions and among other things said that the company should be more like WeChat and TikTok if they want to reach the goal of having one billion users. When Musk was asked how Twitter can grow, he replied that the app should offer more usability and ensure that “people are very entertained and informed.” He compared this to the Chinese app WeChat, which combines features such as payments, games and an Uber-like service.

Musk also praised TikTok’s algorithm as it is not “boring” and said to the employees: “We could refine Twitter in the same way to be interesting.” He thinks that Twitter should be better at producing news. “I think Twitter can be much better at informing people about serious issues,” he said. Musk also suggested an irony label that could be seen on Tweets to show when the sender is ironic.

At the end of the meeting, Musk shifted his focus to space, the age of the earth and potentially dead civilizations on other planets, saying he had not seen any actual evidence of aliens, “yet”.
