The upgrade of the X2000 trains continues. Now in series production.

In 2014, ABB was commissioned to upgrade all SJ’s X2000 trains. The idea is to fix both comfort and technology in the trains and they have together with Stadler now delivered three train sets that roll.

Now they are moving a bit in the project and Stadler gets the assignment immediately, even if ABB is on a corner. At the same time, the project goes into series production, which means that the pace will increase.

SJ has bought 25 new high-speed trains

SJ announced today that it has agreed with Alstom to buy 25 new high-speed trains, with an option for 15 more. That it would be just these trains became clear already in December last year, but now it is crowded and clear on the agreements. The 25 trains will cost SJ seven billion kronor and will be used between major cities in Sweden but also in traffic to Denmark and Norway. The model is called Zefiro Express and is delivered by Bombardier, which is part of the Alstom Group. They will complement SJ’s fleet of X2000 trains. The trains must have space for bicycles, have better sound attenuation, windows that are radio-transparent and there must be a more efficient connection. The trains must also be able to move with battery operation if there are disruptions to the power supply. The trains will be put into service in 2026.
