Assassin’s Creed Celebration: Origins free to play today (Update)

The short-term announcement is just as surprising as the time: Ubisoft is planning the Assassin’s Creed Celebration Stream for today’s Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Update from June 16, 2022: Who on news to the next Assassin’s Creedgame had speculated was disappointed: Only in September – so in three months – there should be “a very special event” where the future of Assassin’s Creed goes. The deadline is after the Gamescom 2022 – which suggests that in Cologne no Assassin’s Creed– World premiere is expected.

Instead, Ubisoft took the opportunity to kick off the “15th Anniversary Celebrations” and thank fans for their loyalty. Surprises, collaborations, rewards and community activities are planned for the coming months.

For the current part Assassin’s Creed Valhalla there will be free content and a new game mode to download. From June 16th to 20th (i.e. from today) is also a free weekend to Assassin’s Creed Origins planned: During this period, the game can be used free of charge – the pre-download via Stadia, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4 or PS5 is now possible.

Message from June 14, 2022: 6 p.m. is usually the time at which Ubisoft publishes information relevant to the stock exchange. A short-term scheduled ‘Assassin’s Creed Celebration Stream’, which was only announced yesterday evening, also falls within this period of time this evening. The first episode of the successful Assassin’s Creedseries was released in 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, later also for PC – so 15 years ago.

The French publisher does not provide any information on the content of the live stream. It is therefore speculated on the Internet that, apart from the past, the future of the action-adventure series will also be illuminated – for example with a view to a successor Assassin’s Creed Valhallaa virtual reality offshoot, a remake of the original game or news about the planned online game world Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

So far, Ubisoft has not publicly stated whether and to what extent the company will participate in Gamescom 2022 from August 24th to 28th.
