Snap is internally trying out a paid subscription dubbed “Snapchat Plus”. This formula will allow the most involved users to obtain a handful of new functionalities. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi tweeted some footage, while Snap confirmed the news to The Verge.

Hands-on users will be able to get a “best friend” feature to pin their conversation. A “Snapchat +” badge can be highlighted on their profile, while it will be possible to check who has viewed a Story several times or to change the application icon. You can also see the movements of your friends over the past 24 hours if they have activated geolocation.

According to a screenshot presented by Alessandro Paluzzi, prices will range from €4.59 for a month to €45.99 for the year. Since this is a test version, these prices may change between now and the official launch. Snap gave no indication of a possible rollout period.

This paid formula probably comes in response to the worse than expected estimates presented by Snap last month. The company blamed (among other things) Apple and its system alerting users when an app seeks to track them. Consequently, the group announced that it would slow down hiring.
