On July 14, Tower Semiconductor announced a partnership with Cadence to advance automotive and mobile IC development.
Through collaboration, the two companies are developing a new, comprehensive automotive reference design flow using the Cadence Virtuoso design platform and Spectre simulation platform to provide customers with faster design cycles and maintain comprehensive designs for advanced automotive IC product development verify.
Russell Ellwanger, CEO of Tower Semiconductor, said: “Our longstanding partnership with Cadence enables us to continue to provide our customers with leading design tools to develop innovative analog integrated circuits that are co-optimized with packaging. This new reference flow provides our customers with We have created a functional set of tools for developing and manufacturing high-performance integrated circuits to meet the high quality and reliability of the automotive market, and we can expertly address our customers’ current and future needs.”
Anirudh Devgan, President and CEO of Cadence, said, “Cadence and Tower have worked together successfully for many years to provide RF and silicon optoelectronic solutions that help us develop advanced products together. Our joint work on the automotive reference flow is focused on helping Customers developing critical automotive integrated circuits, leveraging Cadence’s tools and Tower’s designs, will develop compelling products faster.”
It is understood that TowerTower Semiconductor is an independent semiconductor foundry that produces intensive mixed-signal semiconductor devices in the United States, Asia and Europe. It produces integrated circuits (ICs) based primarily on third-party designs and proprietary geometric ranging designs from 1.0 to 0.11 microns, as well as design and technical services. The company also offers a range of customizable process technologies, including SiGe, BiCMOS, mixed-signal and RFCMOS. Its ICs are used in a range of products for different markets, including consumer electronics, personal computers, communications, automotive, industrial and medical equipment products. It primarily provides foundry services to fabless semiconductor companies and independent equipment manufacturers. Tower Semiconductor Ltd was established in 1993 and is headquartered in Migdal Haemek, Israel.
On February 15, Intel and Tower announced that they had signed a definitive agreement whereby Intel would acquire Tower Semiconductor for $53 per share in cash, totaling approximately $5.4 billion.
