IT House reported on July 17 that MSI announced that it will use a screwless M.2 SSD slot on its AMD Ryzen 7000 Zen4 600 series motherboards. The system relies on the combined design of MSI’s unthreaded M.2 Shield Frozr and EZ M.2 clamps, which are currently patent pending.
IT House learned that MSI first demonstrated the design of this M.2 slot at Computex 2022.
Twitter whistleblower @chi11eddog shared a set of photos showing MSI’s various instructions for its screwless M.2 socket.
According to reports, on the MSI X670 motherboard, MSI will use a series of pre-fixed columns to help users install M.2 SSDs and heat sinks more easily.

AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors are the first to adopt TSMC’s 5nm FinFET process, introduce AMD’s new platform and socket, and bring new features such as PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory support!
The X670 chipset is divided into two series – X670 Extreme and X670. X670E can support PCIe 5.0 through PCIe slot and M.2 slot, while X670 motherboard can support PCIe 5.0 through M.2 slot only. In addition, the rear USB Type-C of X670E and X670 motherboards will support DP 2.0 output.
In addition, the front USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C of the MEG motherboard will support 60W power supply, and the VRM power supply design has also been upgraded to a maximum of 24+2 105A Dr.MOS.
MSI says that the new X670E motherboard will come with some new features: including a patent-pending magnetic screwless Frost Armor with a magnetic design to help easily upgrade or install an M.2 SSD*2; Smart button for more customization by booting into safe mode, turning on/off all RGB LEDs or smart fan speed regulation; all MSI X670 motherboards will support ARGB Gen2 devices.

MSI MEG series includes two motherboard models, MEG X670E GODLIKE and MEG X670E ACE.
MEG series adopts E-ATX PCB size, VRM has up to 24+2 phase 105A smart power supply design. They use a fin heat dissipation + heat pipe design, and are also equipped with a MOSFET substrate to assist VRM heat dissipation, while the back metal armor helps protect the motherboard PCB from bending.
MEG series motherboards are equipped with 4 onboard M.2 slots, including 1 M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot with an additional M.2 XPANDER-Z GEN5 DUAL expansion card for 2 additional PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slot.

MSI has upgraded the MPG series, and the new platform will come in carbon black color scheme, such as MPG X670E CARBON WIFI. This motherboard has 2 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and 4 M.2 slots, divided into 2 M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 and 2 PCIe 5.0 x4.
It is equipped with 18+2 phase 90A power supply, and uses an extended heat sink design, and will also work with EK to develop a custom water block that covers the CPU, VRM and M.2 sections.

The PRO series has a 14+2 dual power supply system and dual 8 Pin CPU power connectors, such as PRO X670-P WIFI. The PRO series is equipped with 1 M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot, 2.5G LAN and Wi-Fi 6E solution.
