The small farm game Dinkum, a kind of Animal Crossing in the Australian outback, was released on Steam in Early Access a few days ago and can already boast a small, committed fan community. The approval rate on Steam is high and the number of players is constantly increasing.

Dinkum is a cute little farming game that was re-released for Steam on July 14th. While some users compare it to Nintendo’s Animal Crossing, it could actually be Australian Crossing, as the game is also about colonizing a piece of land in the Australian bush.

What is Dinkum about?

Farming game Dinkum was designed and developed by a single developer, James Bendon. Nevertheless, it can already get a good user rating just a few days after the release in Early Access. The mood among buyers is “extremely positive” with 95% agreeing. And the number of players is also constantly increasing – the current all-time peak is 6,873 players.

In Dinkum we are abandoned on an island that was modeled on the Australian outback and have to set up camp. We cut wood, mine rock and ore and defend ourselves against crocodiles and other dangerous wild animals in eucalyptus forests and burning deserts. When setting up the camp, the parallels to Animal Crossing become particularly clear. The larger and safer the camp becomes, the more new settlers and shops we attract and so we can slowly develop our small settlement into a larger city.

Dinkum currently costs only 15.11 euros with a 10 percent discount on the purchase price. This discount campaign runs until July 21, 2022. If you are interested in a small farm game in the style of Animal Crossing, you could have a look here in Dinkum. It could definitely also be worthwhile for fans of Stardew Valley and Co.
