CATL is considering Ciudad Juarez in Chihuahua and Saltillo in Coahuila, according to people familiar with the matter. Both cities are near the Texas border. The company is considering a $5 billion investment in the project, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
IT House has reported that the June 2022 power battery monthly data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance shows that CATL ranks first with a 49.60% share, BYD, LG New Energy, AVIC (AVIC Lithium Battery) ) and Guoxuan Hi-Tech ranked 2-5 with 18.53%, 6.19%, 6.01% and 4.94% respectively.
In addition, the top ten battery suppliers in the world, including CATL, LG Energy, and Panasonic, are supplying batteries for Tesla.
