FIFA 23 will be the final installment in EA Sports’ football franchise under the FIFA banner. Then who will grace the cover? At least in the case of the Ultimate Edition, that’s already clear.

As is well known, everything will be different from the year 2023, because then Electronic Arts will publish its football games under the in-house EA Sports FC and turn its back on FIFA. This in turn probably wants to provide competition with its own game. But before that, FIFA 23 will be released again this fall – and at least who will be on the cover of the Ultimate Edition, which is also available again, is now certain.

Electronic Arts has now confirmed that the more expensive version of the game will feature Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr on the packaging. Mbappe, who somewhat surprisingly stayed with Paris St. Germain for a whopping bounty and salary, returns to the FIFA 23 box after also gracing the cover of FIFA 22.

It’s actually the third time that the French star has appeared on the cover – and Kerr can’t quite keep up. The player is for Chelsea Women and is an Australia international. She has the honor of being the first female football player to feature on a FIFA cover since the football series began in 1993.

Both Ultimate Edition cover stars earned their place last season, after all, Mbappe and Kerr scored 28 and 20 goals respectively and became top scorers in their Ligue 1 and WSL leagues.

It remains to be seen who will be featured on the regular cover. Will Mbappe become a repeat offender here too?
