Following the launch of macOS Monterey 12.5 Release Candidate last week, Apple is now making the second RC available to developers and public beta testers. The company did the same with iOS 15.6, which saw a second RC release a few days after the first Release Candidate.
Today’s build is 21G72. Last week was 21G69. At this point, it’s unclear what critical bug Apple found that required a new Release Candidate to be added.
Unlike other updates, macOS Monterey 12.5 contains only minor features such as:
Added the ability to restart a live sports game in progress, as well as pause, rewind or fast forward, to the TV app. We fixed an issue in Safari that could cause a tab to return to the previous page.
For now, it appears that the macOS Monterey 12.5 beta is the only operating system to receive the new version this Monday, as Apple is still offering the same watchOS 8.7 RC build and tvOS 15.6 RC build. It’s also unclear what will change in watchOS and tvOS since Apple hasn’t released release notes.
macOS Monterey 12.5 will also fix an issue found in Apple Books, as previously reported by .
Since the company began previewing iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16 in June, people’s attention is focused on these new operating systems, which are expected to be released this fall and are now also available to public beta testers. . .
Apple is adding continuity features to these systems. iOS 16 has a new lock screen, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura have new multitasking capabilities, watchOS 9 has redesigned watch faces, and Apple has almost forgotten about tvOS 16.
